This film tells the story of three Warsaw secondary school graduates from the class of 1938, full of magnificent plans for the future and hopes and dreams about adult life. The protagonists enter their maturity when Poland faces the invasion of Nazi Germany. Confronting harsh reality becomes a difficult lesson of patriotism.
The protagonists’ forerunners are real people, friends of the film’s screenwriter, Jerzy Stefan Stawinski.
