David S. Ward graduated from Pomona College in Claremont with a degree in Political Science.
He received his MFA from the UCLA Film School in 1970, and in 1973, David won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Sting. He was also nominated for Best Orginal Screenplay for Sleepless in Seattle in 1993.
